Lumby Gets Infrastructure Planning Grant

Jan 15, 2018 | 7:20 AM

Lumby has now received a 50 thousand dollar grant from the Municipal Asset Management Plan to help with upgrading its infrastructure.

Mayor Kevin Acton says the village has been working on a plan for some time.

“This new grant will help us fine tune things and help us look out to the future as far as depreciation dates
and when things are going to need to be replaced and how much life they have left in them and how much life they should have left in them and we can review things as they go.”

Acton says this allows the village to put real timelines to its asset management plan.

“You know, if we know that a pipe that’s in the ground is 20 years old and it has a 25 year life span we can start planning for replacing it, but if we go back and inspect it like we are doing now we can sort of recalculate those numbers.”

Acton says between doing that and working on flood mitigation, it’s going to be a busy year.
