School Bus Crashes With Dump Truck

Fortunately there were no students aboard a school bus which crashed this morning in Lake Country.

Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey says it occurred at 8:10 am at Okanagan Centre Road East and Oceola Road when the school bus stuck the driver’s side of a dump truck.

“The force of the impact caused extensive damage to the front end of the yellow International school bus and sent the white International dump truck off the roadway into the ditch on Oceola Road,” O’Donaghey tells Beach Radio News.

The school bus driver from Lake Country was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

O’Donaghey says the bus driver had just dropped off the last of his students.

“Had there been any students on board, there was a strong likelihood they may have sustained significant injuries, given the damage to both commercial vehicles.”

The cause is under investigation, with no charges or fines issues as yet.

Witnesses to the crash, who have not yet spoken to police, are asked to contact Reserve Constable Dave Caley of the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.
