Update: Three Crashes On Icy Highway

Jan 12, 2018 | 9:33 AM

UPDATE : 9:30 am

It’s been a dangerous drive between Vernon and Kelowna this morning.

RCMP say they are currently at Highway 97 and the Bailey Road area responding to three separate single vehicle collisions, due to slippery road conditions.

“RCMP is asking the public to slow down on their morning commute and allow extra travel time for icy road conditions,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

Brett says no injuries have been reported at this time and road crews have been advised.

Brett says the highway remains open.

Just a quick note for motorists about road conditions this morning.

A dusting of snow this morning combined with the cold temperature has resulted in very slippery conditions in some areas.

A number of vehicles are having trouble on Highway 97 just south of the city, especially in the Bailey Road area.

There have been a few that have gone off the road, but it’s not clear if there have been any injuries.

We’ve just received word that the northbound lanes of Highway 97 are closed at the Predator Ridge turnoff.

It’s believed a semi-trailer and a small car had a minor collision.

You’re advised to drive with caution.
