Kalavista Log House In Coldstream Saved

Coldstream Council has decided against tearing down the old Kalavista Log House on Kalavista Drive.

The house experienced some damage during the flooding this summer leaving mould and poor air quality.

Mayor Jim Garlick says council feels the house still has life in it.

“We`ll keep it through the year and then do some testing on it next spring and see how it turns out. We had a restoration coming go in and deal with some mould issues. Now it`s fine.”

The house had been rented out to Kala Star School, which was moved into another house the district owns.

Garlick says the group will likely move back in the spring if everything goes well.
