Flood Mapping On RDNO Agenda

Nov 20, 2017 | 6:52 AM

The Regional District of North Okanagan is making a grant application to the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for Flood Mapping.

Board Chair Bob Fleming says they`re hoping for 150 thousand dollars.

Part of the area that needs to be mapped is an area of the north arm of Okanagan Lake on Okanagan Indian Band.

“But those lands are considered part of Electoral Area B as well. They have their own government obviously which covers most things. But because it falls within Electoral Area B of the regional district, it`s included for certain things and this is one of them.”

Fleming says this year`s flooding changed the landscape.

“It`s just taking a new look at it and updating the information that obviously was out of date. The information that was available was not current, but, I think that was the goal with it.”

The areas included are the the North Arm of Okanagan Lake and the regional district area surrounding Kal Lake.
