Suspect Sought In Vernon Hotel Robberies

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are investigating two hotel front desk robberies in the span of less than a week.

Police suspect the robberies were committed by the same person.

The first robbery took place early September 29th at the Super 8 Motel at 4204 32nd Street when a man came into the motel lobby with a knife, demanding money from the night clerk.

The clerk handed over some money and was bear sprayed in the face by the suspect who then ran off.

Four days later, On October 2nd, a man bearing a similar description to the first suspect, entered the lobby of the Sandman Inn across the street from the Super 8 just before midnight, waved a knife and demanded money.

Again, the clerk handed over some cash and was bear sprayed.

The suspect in both cases is described as Caucasian, approximately 25 to 40 years old, about five foot 9 and wearing a black ski mask but with different coloured jackets and pants.

In the Super 8 robbery the suspect was wearing wearing blue jeans, black jacket.

At the Sandman, the suspect wore a black jacket, grey pants and white shoes.

Surveillance video from the Sandman Inn show similarities to the suspect in the Super 8 robbery.
