Twenty-one Thousand Dollars in Funtastic Grants Awarded

Five organizations are benefiting from Funtastic Sports Society’s annual community grant program this year.

Five thousand dollars each are going to Vernon Track and Field, Vernon Ski Club and the North Okanagan Cycling Society.

Vernon Speed Skating Club will receive 3500 dollars while the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club is getting 1600.

The money various needs the organizations have for equipment and to go toward a new track for North Okanagan Cycling.

The Society provides grants in an ongoing mission to support non-profit sport, recreation and community organizations of a sport nature serving the Greater Vernon region.

This year sixteen applications came in with total requests of more than 80 thousand dollars in funding.

Funtastic has been contributing back to the community through its donations and grant program for 33 years.

Since 1985 donations have totaled more than 1.7 million dollars.

The proceeds come from Funtastic’s annual Slow Pitch/music festival

The 2017 Funtastic Event is from June 30th to July 3rd.
