Potholes A Plenty
Drivers will have to put up with potholes on Vernon streets for a while longer.
City spokesperson Tanya Laing Gahr says city crews will start repairs around April 10th.
“There’s two conditions we need to have in order to permanently fix the potholes. We need dry pavement and warm weather, and those are two conditions we haven’t had in the last few months,” Laing Gahr tells Kiss FM.
Laing-Gahr says the city does repair potholes over the winter — but it’s just a temporary fix.
“And sometimes because of the conditions of the roads, or the conditions of the repair materials, they don’t last that long.”
Laing Gahr says they have received calls about the situation.
“We’re also hearing about them on the highways, and we just want to remind residents, any potholes they find outside of the city’s boundaries usually belong to the Ministry of Transportation.”
Some of the worst potholes are on Highway 6 near Polson Park and Polson Mall.
Drivers are encouraged to report potholes on the city’s website under the section at the bottom of the page titled ‘Report an issue.’
“Any time they see a pothole, if they report it to the city, that allows the city workers to map it and put it on the list of priorities,” says Laing Gahr.
