Sure sign of summer: Splashdown Vernon opens

Jul 17, 2020 | 4:17 PM

The former Atlantis water slides are now called Splashdown Vernon, and the water park will open to the public Saturday (July 18).

While all the slides will be operating, there are new rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19 including fewer people in the park.

“Due to Covid-19, your experience with us will be different this year, as we have drastically reduced our capacity and modified our operations. There are new hours, new admission rates, new rules and procedures,” said a statement on their website.

Guests are strongly encouraged to wear a mask when they’re not on a slide or in the water.

Here’s the Covid safety rules as provided on the Splashdown website:

  • Maintain safe levels of social distancing (at least 2 Meters from other social units) within the park at all times
  • Limit your social unit to a maximum of 6 individuals within the park at all times
  • Bring a mask or face-covering with you. It is strongly recommended that guests should wear a mask at all times – EXCEPT when in pools, slides, or other water attractions – Regional Authorities strictly prohibit the wearing of masks in the water. Masks should be kept dry in a plastic ziploc bag when not in use.
  • Wash your hands frequently; when you arrive and exit, before and after each bathroom visit, before and after sharing commonly touched surfaces
  • Do not touch your face with your hands
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow and away from others around you
  • Refrain from unnecessary trips to the restrooms
  • Shower before you leave home and after your return home
  • Be kind and calm and whenever possible, please leave it to our capable staff to approach guests that may need reminding of the Rules.
