With deep sadness and loving hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Arthur Renouf Yates on September 2, 2021.
He was provided with the best of care during his last challenging years living with Alzheimer’s Disease. We are truly grateful to the Creekside Landing Care Community and Dr. Cunningham.
He made many friends for life in Richmond, Hudson’s Hope, Assumption, Alberta and Fort St. John including students, their families and colleagues. His confident, charming nature, witty sense of humor and stunning blue eyes will be remembered always.
First and foremost, he loved his family. He enjoyed traveling to exotic places such as India with his good friend Surjit, Costa Rica, Cuba, Panama and Dominican Republic. He loved to sail, play crib, can pickled beets, make hot salsa, fish, camp and canoe on the Peace River. Some of his favorite life experiences were living in a Teepee in Grand Forks, his Navy years, running his little store and brew house in Hudson Hope and especially teaching upgrading courses at Northern Lights College.
Art was predeceased by his first wife, Sharon and his sons Noah and Lloyd. Those left to remember and celebrate his life rich in love are his wife, Mary Ann and children Laurie [Mark], Jeremy [Gillian], Selena [Thomas], Jonah [Megan], Lucas [Morgan], 12 grandchildren, 3 great-granddaughters, his sister Marlene [Wayne], as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
With heavy hearts, we say farewell. Take comfort in the arms of the Angels.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer memorial donations, kindly consider Alzheimer’s Society and Mental Health and Addictions Services.
