William (“Bill”) John Myers passed away peacefully at the Hamlets of Vernon on August 16, 2020 at the age of 95. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, the Anderson family of Vernon, BC: Duane, Beverley, Clayton (Keiko), Stephanie (Andreas), Keila, and Ken. Bill was predeceased by his brother Herb, his sister Edith, and his long-time companion Gladys Koski. He is survived by his loving sister Gladys of Olympia Washington, and his sister in law Joyce of Nanaimo, BC.
Bill was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, having served in the Royal Canadian Navy in World War II. After his service in the Navy, he eventually moved to Lumby, BC and worked in the forest industry until his retirement. He was a very skilled craftsman, and over the years built many pieces of furniture that have since become family heirlooms. His proudest achievement was the construction of a houseboat, which for many years could be seen cruising Mara and Shuswap Lakes with family and friends. Traveling to see his beloved Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in 2004 was one of his fondest memories. One of his happiest moments as a Cubs fan was when they finally won the World Series for him in 2016.
Bill had a great sense of humour, a positive outlook on life, and a sharp mind right up to his final days. He was a person who would selflessly help his family when they needed him. He will be missed dearly by the Anderson family, and all of those who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the staff at the Hamlets of Vernon who cared for Bill with such compassion during his stay there. Bill will always be remembered, and never forgotten.
