1944 – 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, William (Bill) Edward Thompson, who passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at the age of 81.
Bill will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 46 years, Shirley, and his children Jeannie, Kelly, Rob (Stephanie), Jeff (Janna), and Greg (Jessica) He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Chris, Ashley, Carley, Sienna, Sophie, Dominique, Gavin, Emma, Mia, and Brooke, as well as his adored great-grandchildren Violet, Luna, and Theodore.
He was predeceased by his sister Kay (John) and his brother Bob (Marion) and survived by many close family members who loved him.
A proud family man and loyal friend, Bill was happiest surrounded by loved ones—whether sharing laughter around the table or cheering from the ballpark stands. A true sports enthusiast, Bill could often be found supporting local baseball and softball teams throughout the Okanagan and cheering on his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Though he spent much of his career in Sales, Bill’s true passion lay in woodworking, where his skill, patience, and creativity came to life through each piece he crafted.
Bill will be remembered for his infectious laugh, kind heart, and unwavering love for Shirley, whom he treated like a queen, and for the pride he carried for his family. His presence brought warmth and joy to every gathering, and his memory will continue to do so for years to come.
He will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date in the Okanagan.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honour Bill’s memory by spending time with loved ones and cheering for the Blue Jays, just as he would have wanted.
