Wendy Jean MacLeod
September 27, 1947 – September 25, 2025
On September 25, 2025, Mom was dressed up, wearing her red lipstick and excited that her friends Wendy Crawford and Linda Churchill were coming to pick her up for her birthday lunch. She was on her way to meet them when she collapsed from a natural event. The staff at Creekside Assisted Living responded immediately and the ambulance arrived so quickly.
We are so thankful for the care provided by the staff at Creekside Assisted Living in Vernon, the Long- Term Care staff in Vernon and the paramedics, doctors and nurses in the ICU at Vernon General Hospital who cared for our mom.
We are also deeply grateful to her loving friends for being with her right to the end of her journey here. Mom lived surrounded by family and friends who made her laugh. She loved to travel, cook, quilt, sew, do crafts and celebrate birthdays and holidays together. We are so thankful to all of her friends over the years as you helped make her the woman she was: sociable, crafty, and caring!
Mom was born and raised in Montreal and graduated from Lachine High School. She attended Okanagan College and graduated in 1985 as a registered nurse. She went on to work with “the best nursing friends” on 3 West (Labour and Delivery) at Kelowna General Hospital. In her younger years, Mom loved playing baseball, skiing, and spending time at the beach. As children, we were so grateful to spend nearly every summer weekend camping at the beach lot by the old ferry docks and nearly every winter weekend skiing at Big White.
Mom, we know that you are now reunited with your sister, Susan Kathleen MacLeod, who passed away on February 1, 2023. You are also with your parents, Gregor and Marguerite MacLeod, in heavenly love.
Special thanks go to Tesha Lingren, Johan Wallstrom, cousin Jenny Bomford (Rick, Ryan, and Lauren) and Auntie Barb and Bob MacFarlane for helping our mom so much over the years.
Nana will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Erik Wallstrom, William Wallstrom and Sydney Lingren, whom she loved deeply. She will also be missed by her brother Neil MacLeod and sister-in-law Judy MacLeod and her nephews James and Tom MacLeod (Katherine and Charlie), her niece Brittany Frame (Jesse) and her nephew Stephen Olsvik, children of her sister Susan. She will also be remembered by Tina Baudon (Gord’s life partner). Mom will be dearly missed by all of her amazing and beautiful friends. Thank you for being such an important part of her life.
Mom, we love and miss you so much and we know you lived a great life. Belinda, Gord and I would like to celebrate her life in the near future with a Celebration of Life in Kelowna. Spread love, light and kindness.
With love,
Rachael Wallstrom, Belinda Lingren, and Gord Clark
