It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Kolbeis on November 7, 2022, just eleven days short of his 87th birthday.
Walter was born November 18,1935 in Graz, Austria. He is predeceased by his brothers Werner and Felix and his Sister-in-Law, Mitzi and his brother-in-law, Adi.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving Sister Marianne and all the Nieces, Nephews and extended family in Austria.
He is survived by his wife Rita, (married 64 years) his two daughters, Karen Trimble and Sandra Parhar and their husbands David and Satnam. Grandpa Wally will be sorely missed by Karen and David’s children, Jennifer and Ryan, also Jen’s husband Kevin and their two boys Cole and Logan. He will be greatly missed by Sandra and Sat’s children, David, his partner Chelsey, Adam, Benjamin and Adam’s daughter Natalie.
Wally came to Canada at the age of 18. He married Rita in 1958. He was 23 and she was 19. They had 2 girls, Karen and Sandy. They lived at the coast for about 15 years, then moved to 100 Mile House for the next 44 years. Most of that time, they lived on Horse Lake where they had many great times with family and friends.
They both worked for Canim Lake Sawmills, he in the mill and Rita in the office. They took over a cleaning contract for the mill and ran it for 22 years, after which their daughter Karen took it over on their retirement. Karen still runs it, 24 years later.
Wally and Rita loved to travel. They went to Europe several times and at least 20 times to Hawaii. They also traveled to southern California and took a few trips to Las Vegas. All in all they enjoyed their life together.
The last 5 years of Wally’s life was spent in Vernon and the last 14 months in Polson Care Home, where he received exceptional care. We are extremely grateful for the loving environment he lived in while there.
Wally passed away peacefully at 8:30 pm, November 7th. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
Our Family would like to thank all those who sent flowers and cards and the many condolences. They were most appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, (250) 542-4333. Condolences may be left for the family at pleasantvalleyfh.com
