April 8, 1928 – July 17, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thelma Trickett at ninety-five years of age. She was the wife of Roy Trickett, who predeceased her in 2014, and is survived by her two sons Kevin (Lisa) and Stewart, and two sisters Vivian and Bertha. She is predeceased by her siblings John, Marguerite, Ross, and Malcolm.

Thelma was born in Cardross, Saskatchewan to a wheat-farming family, the fourth of seven children. She moved to Vancouver in her late teens to work as a secretary, where she met Roy, who she married in 1949. In 1963, her family of four came to the Okanagan. She lived in Coldstream for over four decades, but spent most of her senior years in Vernon, the last few at the Parkwood Retirement Resort where she made many friends and shared many laughs.

Thelma worked on numerous elections – municipal, provincial, and federal — and held the post of provincial District Electoral Officer for the region for three election cycles. She was a long-time member of the Vernon Golf and Country Club, Vernon Curling Club, and North Okanagan Duplicate Bridge Club. Thelma served terms as both the ladies club captain and ladies president at the Vernon Golf Club. She was the rules chair for many tournaments at the club, zone and provincial levels for more than 30 years. In 2006, she received an award from the B.C. Golf  Association for her services to the game she loved. Her last game was at Hillview at the age of ninety four. She parred the eighth hole.

Mentally and physically vigorous even into her nineties, Thelma loved life in the North Okanagan. She faced her last days with courage and acceptance.

A memorial service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 11:00 on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, we ask for a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
