June 16, 1933 – September 9, 2021
Born on a farm near Senate, SK; Betty was the youngest and last surviving of Jacob and Emilia Paul’s eight children. Betty moved to Armstrong a few years later where she grew up helping run the family’s new farm. After graduating, Betty moved to Salmon Arm where she would meet her future husband Bill Shillam. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Vernon where Bill ran the family business, Shillam Garage. Betty and Bill remained in Vernon for over 50 years.
Betty loved travelling, good food, gardening and her family. She was predeceased by her husband in 2015. She will be sorely missed by her two daughters Leslie (David) and Patricia; her six grandchildren Ashley, Nigel, Caleigh (Austin), Simon (Sadie), Ted and Dana; and her one great granddaughter Lily; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. Ross Waldron and the staff at Creekside Landing and Polson Extended Care for Betty’s special care in these last two years.
Due to the current circumstances with COVID-19, a service is not planned for the foreseeable future.
