Norman was born in Wilkie, SK, on May 11, 1931. Being the height of the great depression, his family moved him to a small homestead in Prairie River. At the age of 10, in the middle of World War II, his mother moved him to New Westminster. At the time, his father and three older brothers were off fighting, so Norman had to quit school and work odd jobs to help make ends meet. Norman married Lorene Marshall on September 1, 1951 and eventually started working with BC Tel (now Telus) in 1957. He had two children, Bruce in 1957 and Leneen in 1959. He built a cabin at Lacla Hache in 1976 and spent most summers there. In 1987, Norman retired and moved to Kelowna in 1990. After his wife Lorene passed in March of 2012, his son moved him to Vernon where he lived out the rest of his time until his passing on March 25, 2020.
He will be missed by his two children, his daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
