With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruth Morrison (née Boyd), who passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the age of 88. Ruth was born on November 11, 1936, in Enderby, BC. She was one of eight daughters born to Ruth and Arthur Boyd. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Theodore (Ted) Morrison, and together they built a beautiful life in Lumby, BC, where they raised a close-knit and loving family.
Ruth is lovingly remembered by her seven children:
• Rick (Jo-Anne) of Terrace
• Anita (Darrell) Charest of Lumby
• Terry of Lavington
• Brian (late Cindy) of Vernon
• Bruce of Abbotsford
• Valerie (Ralph) Stoll of Leduc, Alberta
• Tracey (Guy) Olson of Vernon
She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren. Ruth worked for many years at both the Glass Factory and the Bank of Nova Scotia, where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and warm spirit. She and Ted later built a home in Blind Bay, enjoying over a decade there before returning to Coldstream, where they settled into a beautiful home overlooking Kalamalka Lake. Family was always at the heart of Ruth’s life. She loved preparing large meals and gathering those she loved around the table. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and kindness, and she treated everyone she met with grace and respect. She enjoyed a good game of crib, was a regular at bingo nights and casinos, and was a passionate fan of hockey and curling. Ruth’s fun-loving nature and generous heart were constants in the lives of all who knew her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ted, who passed away on December 7, 2005. Ruth’s strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family leave a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed.
A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ruth’s memory by enjoying a meal with loved ones or sharing a game or cards in her honor.
