Roy, the beloved husband of Mabel, passed away peacefully at home in Coldstream on August 9th, 2023. Roy was a devoted husband and father. He shared 62 years of love and friendship with his wife Mabel.
Roy was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He graduated from SAIT and his early career with Uniroyal landed him in Edmonton, Alberta, where he started his family. He went on to become the owner of his own successful business Hydro-flex Hose. In 1998 Roy sold his business and retired with Mabel to Celista, British Columbia (Shuswap Lake).
During his time in Edmonton Roy was an active member in ACT including a term as President of the Edmonton Chapter. In addition, he was actively involved in Cub Scouts and took the role of Akela for a club in Belvedere, Edmonton. Roy enjoyed curling, golfing and was a fan of the TV show “Jeorpardy!”.
Roy and Mabel traveled to many places in the world, including Hawaii, where they found the inspiration to build their retirement dream home in the Shuswap. After retirement they expanded their travels to include New Zealand, Australia and became frequent snowbirds to Palm Springs, California.
Roy was the father of 4 sons, Steven (Jacqueline), Russell (Diane), Colin (Dione), and Trent. He was the grandfather to 8 grandchildren, Samantha, Shaun, Caleb, Danika, Tanner, Cale, Jordan, Haley and 3 great-grandchildren Zoey, Nash and Maxx.
He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Thomas, his brother Robert and his niece Sandra. He is survived by his sister, Elaine (Albin) and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Calgary at a later date.
