It is with great sadness that we announce Roy Arthur Spier, Jr, of Vernon, BC passed away on Friday, November 10, 2022 at the age of 64 years old. He died peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital with his Beloved wife Vicki and children, Ryan and Kelly (Rodd) by his side. He is also survived by his grandchildren Aidan and Sean. Some light in this darkness was that Roy was able to become an organ donor and help people start a new life.
Roy was born in East Vancouver, BC on August 27, 1958 to Roy Sr and Maureen “Bonnie” Spier, then moved to Prince George with his family. Roy loved playing hockey and softball in his younger years. Later on in life he preferred to just watch the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Seahawks and Toronto Blue Jays. Roy worked at BC Rail and CN Rail for 35 years and retired to Vernon. He loved to vacation to Mexico every year and everyone was always shocked at how tanned he got. He had a big laugh and loved to make jokes and tease you. He was an amazing friend, keeping life-long friendships from childhood all the way to the end. He would selflessly deliver newspapers and shovel extra driveways for his neighbours without being asked.
No service Is planned at this time, but a celebration of life is being planned for Summer of 2023.
In lieu of flowers, please make an effort to sign up as an organ donor (if you can be), with the province you reside in, or discuss with your family what you’d like to happen in the event of an accident.
