With deep love and sadness, the family of Robert Dennis (Bob) Manton announces his passing on June 18, 2025, at the age of 78.
Bob was born in Kelowna, BC, on October 23, 1946, and spent his early years in Armstrong before settling in Vernon, where he would build a life filled with dedication, family, and community. A talented and respected heavy-duty mechanic, Bob began his career in Telkwa, BC, as an apprentice before moving back to Vernon, where he worked with Capital Tractor from 1968 for an extraordinary 45 years. His work took him far and wide as a bush mechanic across the province — from Revelstoke to Williams Lake, Princeton to Lytton and Lillooet — where his skill, reliability, and commitment left a lasting mark.
Outside of work, Bob’s great passion was auto sports. He raced stock cars at the old Tillicum racetrack in his younger years and later spent many weekends participating in auto slalom events behind the wheel of his cherished 1969 Alfa Romeo. He found his greatest joy, however, in supporting his children and grandchildren — cheering them on at countless sports games and activities with quiet pride and encouragement.
He was known for his great sense of humor — at least according to him! Even in his final days, Bob kept the nurses laughing and spirits high, bringing smiles to those around him right to the very end.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary; his children Jeannie Litster (Alan), Rob Manton (Masako), and Leigh Manton (Sarah); and his treasured grandchildren Payton (Braden), Ana (Kevin), Zach (Etanna), Victoria, Alex, Kaleb, Lucia, Ryen, and Raven. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Ivy and Haze. He will be dearly missed by his loyal canine companions, Pixie and Bandit.
A service of remembrance will be held later this summer to celebrate Bob’s life and the legacy he leaves behind.
He will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, his fierce love for family, and his tireless spirit — on the road, in the shop, at the track, and in every laugh he shared.
