The good beekeeper arrived on this earth on April 15, 1941 at 11:53 a.m. in Naperville, Illinois, U.S.A. His parents Jeanette and Lawrence Springborn welcomed him to the family.
He attended University in Iowa and graduated with degrees in Chemistry and Meteorology. He later moved to Cheyanne, Wyoming where in addition to work he began a bee keeping business. In 1980 he purchased a bee business in Vernon and moved to Canada. Loving his bees, he continued this calling for the remainder of his life taking his apiary to commercial status with the Busy Bee honey brand. He became an active member of the B.C Bee Breeders Association and the B.C. Honey Producers Association.
He was an enthusiastic member of Chi for Health in Vernon attaining instructor level and making many friends. He appreciated the quietness of this form of exercise plus the mental concentration to remember all the moves.
On September 2, 2021 he left his hive to go to his final resting place, leaving to mourn his wife Patricia, sons Zachary and Michael, stepsons Adrian (Trish), Nelson (Sandie) and Christopher: grandchildren Jessica (Sylvain), Nicholas (Jessica), Tianna (Grant) and Niki (Andrew). He will also be remembered by his sister Jeannie (George), his brother Larry (Jodi), his best friend Colin, his hospital room mate John, his loving dog Chelsea, other extended family members and the many friends he made on his life journey.
A celebration of life will be held at Community Baptist Church on Silver Star Road on Saturday October 16, 2021 at 2 pm. Due to current restrictions, it will be by invitation only. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to North Okanagan Hospice Society or the Vernon S.P.C.A.
