It is with great sadness that the family of Regina Marin announce her passing on August 21, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Regina was born on April 20, 1929 in Karlsruhe, Ukraine. She was born into a family of six girls and grew up on a farm in a village near Odessa. She was nine years old when her mother and sisters fled the Ukraine. Life was on the run from one country to the next during WW2, perilously crossing many borders to reach Germany and finally settling in Nordlingen.
Regina was the first daughter to immigrate to Canada in 1950 where she later met her husband, Steve in Calgary AB and married in 1952.
Later retiring in Kelowna BC, Regina and Steve enjoyed life together partaking in many activities including square dancing, travelling and gardening. Dancing was always her passion, and as an accomplished seamstress she found great joy in creating one-of-a-kind beautiful square dance dresses for every dance occasion. Regina’s amazing talents went way beyond sewing clothes, she reupholstered her own couch, chairs and bar stools, she sewed party costumes, and even made her own curtains and valances for the whole house.
Regina had a real zest for life and loved entertaining and meeting people. She had an effervescent personality and will always be remembered for her loving, kind and generous heart towards all whom she came in contact with. She will forever be loved by those that she left behind.
Regina was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will always be remembered with love by her daughter and son, Melinda and Stephen and will also be mourned by her grandchildren Natalie and Scott. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Steve, married 49 years. Also predeceased were Regina’s sisters Elvira, Lydia, Philomena, Ida and Rose.
Regina’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Pleasant Valley Manor Retirement Home in Armstrong BC for all their kindness and dedication.
