Paul passed away March 22, 2022, age 86, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, after struggling with pancreatic cancer.
Paul was born in Fredericia, Denmark.
He immigrated to Canada in 1953 to join his brothers in Prince George.
Paul was in the logging business in Prince George for 24 years. He moved to Vernon in 1977, where he owned and operated rental properties in the Okanagan Valley. Paul was passionate about the forest industry and continued also in that business into his late 70’s, as a licensee, mill executive and investor.
In all his relationships and ventures, Paul was known for his honesty, integrity and fairness.
Paul was loved by his family and was a loyal friend to many. He will be missed by all.
He is predeceased by his parents Sorine and Lars Winther, his son Michael, his brothers Chris, Erik and Tage, and two sisters, Petra and Karen. He is survived by Anna Lise, his loving wife of 64 years, his sons Allan (Paula), Mark (Kelly), Steven (Kristy), daughter Connie (Andrew), granddaughters Madison, Carmen, Isabella, Mia, and grandsons Evan and Finn.
Paul is also survived by his brother Bent, sisters Inge, Lis and Else, all of Denmark, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was an avid walker. He was well known on Westkal, where he walked every day, rain or shine, often twice a day. He enjoyed hunting, golf and watching hockey.
Thanks to Dr. Harper and the doctors and nurses of VJH who took care of Paul. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Paul’s memory to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
