Doug was born in Quesnel on December 11, 1929. He grew up on a ranch with his parents and sister. His favourite memory as a child was riding a horse to school.
When he was old enough, he went into the logging industry as a faller, and that is where he met his wife, Irene. They then moved to Revelstoke and continued to both work in the logging industry. Their next adventure was when they moved to Vernon and opened an antique and second hand store. They worked along side one another to build their business.
In Doug’s leisure time, he enjoyed fishing with Irene, collecting coins and gardening. Doug also loves dogs … pugs to be exact … and always had one throughout the year.
Doug was predeceased by Irene in 2008. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends and his wonderful dog Buck.
Doug was a man who wasn’t fond of ceremony so has asked for a private grave side service. That will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024. A coffee, tea and reception will be held after the burial at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, starting just after 10:30 am.
