Pamela Mary Davis (Ward) was born on January 10, 1925 in London England. At age 18 she enlisted in the British Territorial Army as a spotter for anti-aircraft. She was stationed on the Isle of Wight and encountered numerous German Bomber aircraft on their way to blitz British towns and airfields. During her war service she encountered several Canadian soldiers and gained a very favourable opinion of Canada. One soldier convinced her to emigrate and even sponsored her for a Toronto bank job. Soon Pam met William (Bill) Davis. Romance ensued. In Ottawa they were married on March 11th of 1950. Bill served in both WWII and in Korea and eventually the happy couple retired to Vernon in 1964. Pam loved playing golf and working for the Forestry. After Bill’s passing in 2003, Pam moved to Canterbury Court and enjoyed playing bridge, pool, going on mystery rides and most importantly seeing her friends daily.
The most important thing to Pam was family. She leaves behind a son Glen Davis (Marlene) and a daughter Marie Hill (Larry). Other descendants include granddaughters Michelle Murphy (David), Nicole Wightman (Ross), Brittany Davis (Matt) and grandson Korey Davis (Shalyn). Now there are great grandchildren Kaylyn, Ronin, Alton, Tayla, Ryker, Emmett and Kiara.
Pam’s nickname in Canterbury Court was “Hurricane” and she lived her entire life like that. Nana was a force to be reckoned with.
Thanks go out to the fabulous nursing staff at VJH and the staff of Canterbury Court. Special thanks go to Dr. Lindsey Fisher and Deline from Canterbury.
