August 10, 1932 – August 6, 2021
We’re sad to inform Blake’s many friends of his passing. Blake was born and raised in Vernon and spent his entire life enjoying this community.
After high school Blake spent several years in Vancouver while attending Vancouver Vocational Institute. He then worked at the family business Nolans’ Drugs for over 40 years until his retirement in 1993. Blake truly enjoyed sports and socializing, including soccer, boating, badminton, golf, curling, model boat building and his specialty – storytelling.
Blake was a lifelong freemason of the Kalamalka Masonic Lodge, and he demonstrated the tenets of morality, charity and involvement in one’s community. He was a leader in Scouts Canada, and a member of Spallumcheen Golf Club and Vernon Curling Club. His adventures included travels to many far-away tropical places.
Blake spent the past few years at Orchard Valley Retirement Residence where he made a whole new group of friends. He spent many happy days joking with the residents and staff, playing pool and cards, and touring downtown on his scooter.
Blake was predeceased by his parents Hazel and Rene Nolan and his brother Don. He is survived by his sister-in-law Sue Nolan, niece Kathy (Dennis), nephews Mike (Kathleen) and Tom (Barb), and seven great nieces and nephews.
We particularly recognize Jack Humphreys and family for their close friendship with Blake. We extend our appreciation to staff at Hospice House for their valued care.
A gathering of friends will be held to celebrate Blake’s life. Those wishing to donate in Blake’s name could contact the Kalamalka Masonic Lodge.
