Nancy Medynski

Nancy passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, June 20th, 2021. She was 93. She was predeceased by Stanley, her husband of 68 years, her sister Mary Watts (Albert), and brothers Harry, Peter and Bill. She will be sadly missed by her sister Ann Brandebura of St. Cloud, Florida US, three children, Bob (Barb), Jim, and Judi Eliuk (Marshall), nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Nancy was born in Poland in 1928 and immigrated to Canada with her family soon after. They settled in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, later moving to the Swan Lake area in Vernon, BC where she met and married Stanley. For several summers she worked as a camp cook for Medynski Brothers Logging in Trinity Valley, and then at the Vernon Army Camp. In 1957 she and Stanley built the White Swan Motel at Swan Lake, operating it until 1968 wherein they retired to Vernon.
Nancy was a great cook — especially Ukrainian food — and she loved to host large gatherings of family and friends. She was an ardent gardener, seamstress and quilter. She spent many hours sewing undergarments for little girls in missions across the world. Her early retirement was spent fishing at Mica Creek catching the big ones! Playing Scrabble and puzzles occupied her later years. Her kitty ‘Shadow’ was her constant companion.
There will be a family-only graveside service at a later date.
