Michael William Edward Guthrie

Michael William Edward Guthrie passed away peacefully November 9, 2021. Mike was born October 14,1961 in Sarnia, Ontario. At a young age Mike set out to enjoy life by traveling, having fun and working at various jobs. This led him to experience many places. One of his favourite sites was Vancouver Island and the peacefulness of the surrounding ocean. Arriving in Vernon, BC in 2004 Mike met and later married his loving wife of 17 years, Kathy. Together they owned and operated Vernon Stone Products. They grew the business over the years by expanding to include a Sierra Stone franchise, masonry work for both commercial and home as well as beautiful outdoor kitchen designs, including top of the line fireplaces and BBQ selections. The business was later known as Vernon Stone & Fireplaces and Vernon Chimney Sweep.

Mike has left a legacy of craftsmanship that has covered across many provinces, mountains and miles. He believed that everything happens for a reason and although it may not make sense at the time he would often say “Just you wait and see, it will all work out.” Mike is now resting in the arms of the angels along with his parents Jack and Dorothy Guthrie; sisters Marlene, Norma, Jeanie, Valerie; brothers Jimmy, John, Terry as well as nephews Gerard Raes and Aerol Bouchard. Mike leaves behind his loving wife Kathy (babe), their two family dogs, Abby and Bobby; three cats Sierra, Shasta and Tyndall; sisters Paddy (Paul) Bouchard, Mickey David and Maryjane Guthrie; mother-in-law Shirley Kelleher and brothers- in-law Harry Kelleher (Ellen) and Steve Kelleher, as well as many nieces and nephews.
