Our dad, Micheal (Mike) Latham, passed away peacefully after a short illness at Kelowna General Hospital, on the afternoon of Thursday 12 September 2024.
Mike is survived by his children, Joanne, Kathryn (son in law Vincent) and Stuart, grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Serafina, Jaiden and Dontae. It’s also important to note, he had a strong life-long friend, Elizabeth, who he immigrated to Canada with and confided in, they had many experiences to share, which only immigrants will understand.
Mike was born in Sheffield (South Yorkshire), England on 17 August 1947 and emigrated with his family to Vernon, B.C in the late 1970s. He was a determined, resilient and focused man and helped his family in times of need. Mike had a keen interest in cars, golf, current affairs and travel and was always there to help, often displaying a sense of humor to help deflect difficult situations. He had a true “Yorkshire Grit” sprit and will be remembered for that.
Mike also had an extensive career as an electrician which started in England and carried through to Vernon, his curiosity and ability to learn, often abstract matter, was one of the things which made him unique.
Mike will be greatly missed by all his family members and friends.
