Carol was born March 18,1957 to Doris and Bill Voth at Calgary. Her family moved to Beaver Creek, Yukon then Whitehorse. In 1979, she met Terry McGillivray and son Bill was born June 14, 1980. Carol and Terry moved to Calgary in 1980. Jennifer was born May 10, 1982. Carol gave Terry an accurate card that read, “First comes love, then marriage then you pushing a baby carriage BUT not necessarily in that order!”
By choice, she wouldn’t stand out in a crowd, was a peacemaker and was kind. Carol was shy but she intensely loved her family, small group of friends, and of course, cats (and dogs too)!
Carol’s other loves included playing guitar, singing and being in a band. She curled, played softball thoroughly enjoyed a marathon card game. She learned to sail, loved standing in the pulpit watching porpoises off South Pender Island. Her fear of flying was overcome and she flew across Canada and the USA in a small aircraft with her family.
She was admitted to Vernon Jubilee Hospital on June 11, 2025 with Aspiration Pneumonia, then North Okanagan Hospice on July 8, 2025. She passed away on July 30, 2025 with family holding her and loving her. Carol was so incredibly loved by her husband, children and family.
Carol is survived by husband Terry, son Bill, daughter Jennifer (Clayton), sisters Debbie (Tim), Gail (Bob), Vicki, “adopted sisters and sisters in law” Kathy (Dave), Carol, Diane (Roy), brother in law Ed (Marg), lots of nieces and nephews and Olivia, Granddaughter and the apple of her eye.
If desired, donations made to either The Parkinson’s Society or Michael J Fox Foundation gratefully appreciated.
