Mary Theresa Bell

It is with great sadness that we announce that Mary Bell(Gschwender) a long time resident of Lumby BC passed away peacefully at North Okanagan Hospice Society on Jan 30th. 2022.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband Les and her children Kathleen of Lumby, Marianne of Vernon, James (Emily) of Calgary. She was predeceased by her son John in 2005.
She was a kind, inspiring, caring gramma to Sierra, Amber, Sophie, Eva, Noah. Her loss will be felt by many extended family members and by her community that she treasured so dearly.
Mary was a force of good who believed in the best in everyone. She loved living in the country with Les where they built their home and raised their family, she felt the most at peace in the outdoors. She was hardworking , dedicated and compassionate. Besides being a caring mother and gramma she had many hobbies, she loved cooking, canning, camping, gardening and swimming. There rarely was a local high school basketball tournament that she missed. But above all she deeply valued her relationship with God and by extension the church. She was an active member of the congregation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and participated in countless community events, fundraisers and functions.
We would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice House for their care and compassion. Whenever she would say goodbye to her grandkids should always say 1 and 2 I love you, so today we’d like to say it back to her and that she will be greatly missed.
