It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Brock Maguire. He died peacefully in his home in Dunster, BC on February 12, 2025 under a beautiful full moon.
His beautiful smile, big hugs and calm and kind demeanor will be remembered by his family, friends and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by the mother of his children, Sarah Lukens, his son, Nash and daughter Rowan and his partner Lexi Steward.
Brock is survived by his parents, Janis LeBlond (Kirk Mallette); Garth Maguire (Marian); his sister, Leah Maguire Morrow (Dean); his nieces, Naya and Misha; his uncle, Glenn LeBlond; aunt and uncle, Greg and Sharon Maguire; cousins, Megan Maguire and Monica LeBlond.
He will be dearly missed by his friends that he grew up with in Vernon, his close friends in the Robson Valley, and other friends he met along the way.
He is predeceased by his grandparents, Bernie and Lillian LeBlond, Bob and Annetta Maguire, and cousin Sean Maguire.
Brock was born in Vernon and attended Kidston Elementary and Kalamalka Secondary. He moved to Calgary, Alberta to work for his uncle at Maguire’s 5th Avenue Flooring as warehouse manager and later moved to Dunster, BC in the Robson Valley where he embraced the lifestyle of this small Northern community. He made the most of each day living on 150 acres on the Fraser River where he became a part of the community he loved. Brock worked for his lifelong friend Chad Smith at Paycore Drilling and after as Area Supervisor for LDM road maintenance and finally as Operations Manager for Emil Anderson road maintenance.
Brock was an integral part of the Dunster community and very much enjoyed being involved in local initiatives. He was chairperson of the Dunster Schoolhouse Board and a member of the Dunster Community Forest Board. He loved the people and community of Dunster and made many close friends who enjoyed his thoughtful insights, honesty, love of the outdoors and his witty sense of humor. He valued the support and kindness of his colleagues and friends.
You could find Brock ripping around on the snowmobile with his family and friends, and getting out and appreciating the colder days skiing and skating in the winter. Summer was for exploring new areas and taking in the old ones. Brock always made time for fishing at the family’s favorite spot on the Fraser River with Nash and Rowan and his dogs. He appreciated an adventure (or misadventure) with family and friends whether it was with quads, dirt bikes, hikes or cruising on the water. Many special moments were spent at Mabel Lake with family and friends and at Salmon Beach on Vancouver Island.
Brock was a devoted and loving father and was appreciated by his family and friends. Brock brightened the world with his big heart and laughter and we will cherish our memories of him as we hold him close in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Brock can be made to the Dunster Fine Arts School Society or B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.
