KOCIUBA, Walter "Wally" Harry

Walter “Wally” Kociuba passed away peacefully surrounded with the love of family
by his side on May 13 2023 in Vernon BC. Wally was born in Hafford Saskatchewan
March 31 1934. (registered on his birth certificate April 1 1934) to Harry Kociuba
and Sophie (Nahirny) Dizdiz and Baba.
He would share fond memories of playing with horses and geese with his brothers
on their 160 acre farm. He is the oldest of 3 boys predeceased is Orest and (Doris)
and with us today is the youngest of the 3 Peter and his wife (Mary Ann).
His Ukrainian faith and heritage was always known to everyone he would meet.
He was extremely talented as a mechanic who held many licenses. He could fix anything
In any vehicle or piece of machinery just by listening to the engine or by what it did
before it stopped running.
Through his life he always carried his entrepreneurial spirit. He owned a garage/gas station,
taxi business and a coffee shop. His favorite pastime was fishing, hunting, dancing,
horseback riding and playing crib. Wally is an incredibly special father with adopting
a child and raising and caring for 5 step children. Wally is so proud of all his family
with 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support
during this difficult time.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon BC. A viewing
will take place from 9:30-10:30, Service will start at 10:30 with burial to follow, and a reception afterwards at the
Funeral Home.
