In Loving Memory of Joy Doreen Brenchley, March 30th, 1921 – December 16th,
2021
Passed away in her centenary year, peacefully in her sleep.
Beloved Daughter of William & Edith Brenchley, Loving Mum of Anthony, Christopher, Adrian, Jansson and Julene. Sister to Hilda, Allen, Pearl and June (who all predeceased her). Joy is survived by many nieces, nephews and is Grandma to
11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
Native to Whitstable, England. She emigrated to Alberta, Canada, followed by a new venture to British Columbia, where she spent her remaining years.
Served in the Royal Air Force during WW11 and trained as a WAAF photographer. Her work evolved and later this was to include a role in radiography.
Joy was a caring, kind person with a huge warm heart. Loved dancing,
singing, riding her bicycle, and had a great love for adventure, the outdoors and travel. Hitch Hiked around Europe with her children. Lover of nature, animals, plants, especially wildflowers and her orchid collection.
Avid photographer, artist, loved cooking, designing and making things, including home-made wines. Always lending a helping hand, never asking anything in return.
Forever in our hearts.
God saw you getting weary
The hill too steep to climb,
He put His arms around you
And whispered: Peace be thine.
A golden heart stopped beating
Two smiling eyes at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
Your voyage has been rough,
But you’ve reached your golden shore
Where your boat is now at anchor
And peace is yours once more.
