December 6, 1931 – July 25, 2019
Dale passed away at the age of 87 years on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital after suffering with ill health the past several months.
Dale was born December 6, 1931 in Vernon, B.C. He grew up in Coldstream prior to joining the RCAF as a pilot. Dale met and married Beverly, his wife of 60 years, in Gimli, Manitoba while he was training as a flight cadet. They raised a family of 6 children together with postings across Canada.
Following his retirement in 1986, Dale and Bev returned to his childhood home. They enjoyed many years together hosting a countless stream of family and friends who visited their lakeside property.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, his wife (Beverly), two sons (Dale and Darrell), and infant granddaughter (Colleen). He is survived by his two brothers (Cyril and Wayne), his children Rick (Sherry), Randy (Susan), Dawn (Kirk), Robin (Terri-Lynn), in addition to 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Special mention to Stephanie Fox, Judy Steward, Kay Komant, Val Dakin, and the Gibsons.
Dad was a man of incredible integrity and perseverance. He set a fine example in his words and deeds; providing a strong moral compass for his children and grandchildren. In later years, Dad developed post-polio syndrome. Never one to complain, he displayed a positive attitude as he bore his burdens with grace and fortitude. Dad/Papa leaves us with a legacy of wise words and wonderful memories. Even in our sorrow, our hearts are grateful for having him in our lives.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care given by the staff of the VJH 2 East. Donations may be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
