1936 – 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Hilda Driver of Lumby, BC on April 15, 2022 at the age of 85.
She was born September 2, 1936 in Lethbridge, Alberta and came to BC with her parents James and Monica on October 28, 1939 to the farm on Rollings Lake Road.
Mom enjoyed embroidery, square dancing, shuffleboard, sewing and baking.
Mom was in Girl Guides. She was a May Day flower girl in 1944 and a May Day Princess in 1952. She was also involved in the community for planning Lumby Days.
Mom worked at a Consumers Glass Plant for 27 years, starting on the line and finished her career as a forklift operator. Upon retirement, she pursued her passion for sewing and baking. Her love of these got her involved with the local farmers markets.
She was predeceased by her parents James and Monica Berryhill; her sisters Joan Berryhill, Frances Mechalchuk/Marshall and Sharona Flaig as well as her first husband Herb Leach (dec’d 1995) and her second husband Robert Driver (dec’d 2012).
She leaves behind to mourn her passing her children Deb Nutt, Kathy (Garth Cannaday) Simmons, Cyndi Pulver, Val (Sandy) MacNiven, Mike (Kim) Leach; her sister Pat Rydde and brother Jim Berryhill; 12 grandchildren Janie, Lacey and Brittany Nutt, Crystal Nichulson, Sam Simmons, Denea and Shandra MacNiven, Evan Pulver, Erik (Samantha) Pulver, Nicole Doyle, Logan and Matthew Leach; 8 great grandchildren Laine Stacey, Payton and Desmond Wishart, Ashton and Charlotte Pulver, Harrison and Bennet Doyle and Ewan Warnock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital and the staff at Polson Care for mom’s last days.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
