Rowe – Floyd Calvin Rowe passed away on January 6, 2021 in Vernon at the age of 89. Born August 25, 1931 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan.
Dad was predeceased by Mae Rowe in 1995 and Phyllis Green-Rowe in 2020.
Dad is survived by Gayle Rowe (Pat) of Whitecourt, Alberta, Debby Rowe (Bill) of Summerland, BC and Colleen Rowe (Steve) of Victoria, BC. Dad is also mourned and remembered by David Green (Judy) of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Susan Green of Fernie, Debbie McLean (Stephen) of Bathurst, New Brunswick and Anna Green (Dan) of Armstrong, BC as well as many grandkids, great grandkids and pretty much anyone who met him.
Dad’s early years were in Victoria where he married Mae and went on to raise 3 girls. He was the proud owner of Rowe’s Quality Meats for many years. Summers were spent at the family cabin on Cowichan Lake, BC where there was lots of sailing, horseshoes, “gong shows” and of course the “happy hours”. In the winters we made more great memories on family ski trips to various mountains in BC.
Dad and Phyllis spent many summers in Bathurst, surrounded by loving family and good friends. There was plenty of horseshoes and bonfires on the beach as well as golf at the local golf club.
Dad was a proud Free Mason and sang lead in Barbershop for years. He loved games of any sort and always, always lots of laughs.
Dad will be greatly missed by the staff and his newest friends at The Victorian Residence in Vernon. We are eternally grateful to everyone at The Victorian for loving dad so much and going that extra mile to make dad’s last years so happy. You all helped keep the twinkle in dad’s eye during the lonely Covid times. Oh, and by the way….the shuffleboard trophy is back up for grabs!
Thank you to Drs. Hofer and Woods for your compassionate care. Thank you to Nargiza (night nurse) at the Vernon Hospital and Deanna (day nurse) at Vernon Hospital. Dad had incredible care at The Victorian who went above and beyond for dad. Dad was loved by all.
