Erick Paul Bjornson, 81, passed away on February 17, 2022. He died peacefully with his son by his side knowing that he was loved and that he will be missed.
Paul, as he was known, was born in New Westminster, BC in 1940 and was the elder of two sons. Paul graduated high school and almost immediately started in the paving industry business. He did what all pavers did – worked long, hard hours in varied parts of British Columbia including Vancouver, Prince George, Vancouver Island, and in his eventual home in The Okanagan. Literally countless people have benefited from his work and work of the crews he managed.
Paul was predeceased by the love of his life Katy Gretchen in 2000. He is survived by his brother Bill (Berna), children Lars (Shamma) and Dana (Paul), and his two grandchildren, Arish and Zenia.
From all his past adventures, Paul could tell a great story, keenly remembering details about a gravel road in a Fort St. John or the brilliant colours of a Kokanee that got away. The Toronto Blue Jays will undoubtably have a horrible year without their most enthusiastic fan.
The list of people Paul touched is long, too long to write. But we do wish to thank the staff of Chartswell Chatsworth in Kelowna and Kelowna Hospital that helped him live the best life possible in the last two years. The world’s light has dimmed a little now that he has gone.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation are greatly appreciated.
