The family of Denice Elaine Beck (Miller) is saddened to announce her passing on April 3rd, 2022 after a short stay at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
A loving mother & the biggest supporter of her grandchildren, Elaine was born March 20th, 1944 to Frank & Adeline Miller of Elk Point, Alberta. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her loyal companion Georgie. She will forever be missed by all who knew her.
Elaine was born in Alberta, before moving to the Okanagan in the 1950s. After meeting George at the age of 16 and marrying in 1963, they welcomed their son Todd later that year, and their daughter Teresa three years later. The two eventually laid roots in Vernon’s BX, and created a perfect recipe for a long, prosperous and happy marriage.
Elaine was a proud hockey mom, always encouraging them & teaching life lessons. Known by her grandchildren as Nannie, she was always their biggest fan in sports and in life. She also enjoyed knitting & crocheting, gardening and doing puzzles. She enjoyed the little things – such as watching NASCAR races, catching up on her favorite shows, swapping emails with her friends, and pop in visits from her family.
She often reflected on positive memories, many of which were spent on the road with her family and friends. She and George travelled across Canada in ’99, filling photo albums with a glimpse in to the love she shared for her husband and the life they shared. She travelled to Cuba with her family, went to many hockey & volleyball tournaments, and even joined a group of friends in Colorado at an Alan Jackson concert.
Elaine was predeceased by her late-husband George, who passed in 2006, her parents, sister, Phyllis and sister Kay. She is survived by her children Todd Beck (Debbie) , Teresa Thompson(Jay), grandchildren Kelsey & Jessica Thompson, and other nieces, nephews & family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon. She will rest with the love of her life, George, at the Vernon Cemetery.
