Eileen Abernethy Brosinsky of Vernon, BC, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family. Born in January 1942 in North Vancouver, BC, to John Vernon Darney and Lilian Mabel Walker, Eileen was known for her warm heart and infectious laughter. She cherished sharing stories and laughs with friends, both old and new, over a double-double and a honey crueller, and found endless joy in playful mischief with her grandchildren.
Eileen graduated from Vancouver Community College as a Practical Nurse and devoted her career to compassionate patient care. After retiring from Interior Health in 2003, she continued to serve her community wholeheartedly. Eileen brought joy and laughter as a volunteer with the Kalamalka Caring Clowns, touching the lives of those who needed it most. She also enjoyed giving her time to the BC Winter Games throughout the years.
Eileen cherished her animals and enjoyed raising potbelly pigs, goats, llamas, miniature horses, and chickens on her farm. Most of all, she loved her dogs, Lelu and Sport, who have been eagerly waiting to play fetch with her once again.
Eileen is survived by her sisters, many nieces and nephews, and dear friend Lenore Pedley. Her five children—Nadine, Loretta, Becky, Michael (Jennifer), and Sean—as well as her thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored, will forever hold her memory.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Darney; her brother, Michael Darney; her niece, Lilian Staples; and her daughter-in-law, Josee Bull.
The family expresses love and gratitude to the staff at North Okanagan Hospice and Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their compassionate care during Eileen’s final days.
They kindly request donations in Eileen’s memory be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
As per her wishes, there will be no service.
