Edward Lyle Olson, age, 82, passed peacefully on February 28th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his wife Myrna Olson (Lozinsky), his son Larry Olson, and his daughter Diane Olson. He is survived by and remembered fondly by his sons Kelly and Dale Olson (Jacqueline), his grandchildren Benjamin Olson, Danielle Vistisen (Olson), Nicole Olson, Isaac Olson, Jordan Thomas, Kaylee Olson, Conner Merlo, and Brooke Fougere.
Ed was born on March 8th, 1940 in Queen Charlotte city to his parents Edward and Jean Olson (Leggett). Ed spent the first years of his life living on Queen Charlotte Island before moving to Cloverdale with his parents and sister Betty. He lived and worked there as a welder and fabricator until 1972 when he decided to move his family to Vernon where he could raise them on the farm, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Ed continued to work as a welder for many different companies in the vernon area until he eventually retired from Finning Tractor in the early 1990’s.
Ed had an adventurous spirit and a true love of the outdoors. This led him to spend as much time as he could fishing and hunting, both of which he was incredibly talented at, but anyone who knew him well knew that fishing was his true passion. Ed spent many hours tutoring his children and passing along his skills and knowledge of the fine nuances of being a good outdoorsman, and he continued on this tradition in later years with his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. Ed was also a world class gardener as his neighbors could always attest to when they would receive their weekly bags of garden produce.
Ed, or affectionately known to friends and family as ‘Swede’ or ‘Fast Eddy’ was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is remembered as a man of integrity; if he said he was doing to do something he always stayed true to his word.
His family would like to thank the staff at Noric House for all the loving care they showed Ed during his time there, we know he kept you on your toes!
Although he will be greatly missed, his family knows that he is at peace now that he has been reunited with the love his life Myrna, and the rest of his family members that were eagerly awaiting his arrival with open arms.
