In Loving Memory of Dr. Gerald H. G. Nowek, M.D. February 6, 1958 – August 28, 2026 With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Dr. Gerald H. G. Nowek, M.D.., on August 28, 2026, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, at the age of 68. Born and raised in Vernon, B.C., Gerald was a true Vernon gem—a loving husband, amazing Dad, devoted son, proud grandfather. He was the cherished son of Grace and Joseph Nowek and is survived by his two siblings.

Gerald began his medical journey in 1984 after graduating from Ross University School of Medicine. An internationally respected physician and surgeon, he specialized in General Medicine, Family Medicine, and Occupational and Industrial Medicine. His remarkable career took him around the world, including service as an Air Ambulance Physician in southern Mexico, caring for and transporting patients home across continents. His dedication to medicine earned international recognition. In 2015–2016, he was honoured in New York City as one of the “Leading Physicians of the World” and as one of the Doctors of Excellence.

Despite travelling the world and touching countless lives through his work, Gerald’s greatest love was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Griselda Gonzalez Rodriguez; children, Jessica G. J. Nowek G. and Justin G. J. Nowek G.; and cherished grandson, Thomas J. Garcia Nowek. He also shared a special bond with his loyal Chihuahua, Yaase. Gerald will be remembered for his compassion, strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His greatest legacy is the love he gave his family and the countless lives he touched. You may have left this world, Dad, but you will never leave our hearts. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Dad.
