Our beloved Mom died peacefully at Polson Long Term Care Home with her family at her side. Mom was an Alberta girl, born in Edmonton. The Waldron’s homesteaded in Athabasca, lived in Chigwell and Lacombe where Mom started grade 1. Then off to Slave Lake and to Wildwood where she began high school where she and her big sister, Phyllis had many fond memories. Mom’s family arrived in Lumby in 1947and here they stayed. She was a member of a small group of students who graduated from Lumby High School in 1950. She was strong and athletic playing high school basketball and softball. She even beat some of the young men arm wrestling, much to their embarrassment ! She continued her athleticism throughout her life – bowling, golfing, curling and softball were among her favourites. Mom’s first priority was always family, supporting her kids in all of their activities at school and in the community – hockey (of course), cadets, girl guides, track and BMX. She was a fabulous baker sharing many goodies with family and friends. Mom and Dad travelled throughout BC with Dad’s work and later for pleasure to Old Timer Hockey tournaments. Switzerland, California and Hawaii were some of her favorites.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Ron and son Peter in 2015. She is survived by Don(Diane), Connie(Greg), Kathy(John), Gord(Betty), daughter-in-law Rhonda, and Neil(Bobbi). As well her legacy leaves 15 grandchildren and so far, 15 great-grandchildren. She was a much loved aunty to many nieces and nephews. She is the last of her generation and we shall miss her.
The family would like to thank the Columbus Court community who watched over her during the difficult Covid restrictions and to the wonderful care team at Polson Long Term where she spent her final months.
A memorial service will be held at a later date when travel is easier for family and friends.
