It is with great sadness that the Bunn family announce the passing of David Arthur Bunn, 76. He passed peacefully at home with his family after a long battle with cancer. A loving husband, father and grandfather he will be dearly missed by family and friends. David is pre-deceased by his wife Ardith Elaine, brother Allan, mother Myrtle and father Peter. He is survived by his children Andrea (Stephane) and Robyn, as well as his 7 grandchildren, Eva, Mischa, Elliott, Marlowe, Noah, Sacha and Luca.
David was born and raised in Trail, BC and moved to Vancouver for University. After graduating with a Mathematics and teaching degree, David and Ardith were married and moved to Australia for work. A few years later they returned to Canada and settled in Cranbrook BC where they lived with their family for 18 years, moving to the Vernon area in 1992. He spent the next 30 years living in the Okanagan, working, golfing, skiing and giving back to his community through the Knights of Columbus.
David enjoyed travelling to Ottawa to visit his eldest daughter and her family as well as travelling south to Palm Springs to visit his brother. He also would go abroad as long as the trip included a round of golf, good friends and a nice glass of wine.
David had two passions – skiing and golfing. From an early age his children were on the hill in the winter and the golf course and driving range in the summer. He had 3 rules for his girls as he taught them to golf: 1) keep your head down, 2) keep your damn head down, and 3) keep your goddam head down! He will be forever remembered for his love of sports, his kind heart, sense of humour, and his love of trashy spy novels.
Services will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Vernon BC on May 23, 2023 at 11am. Reception to follow.
