Cheryl Ann King

Cheryl was born March 24, 1957 to parents, William and June King. She lived throughout B.C. but spent many years in Port Coquitlam where her four children, Matthew, Jordan, Keenan, and William, were born. Following Port Coquitlam, she lived in Chilliwack, B.C., where she created a life for her boys, making unforgettable memories. Cheryl and her boys spent many days at her favourite place, Cultus Lake. After leaving Chilliwack, she moved to Vernon where she met the love of her life, Bear. She adored her family and spent her time with her many grandchildren; baking, cooking, playing games and having picnics.

Cheryl loved music, reading, baking and crossword puzzles. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a big smile. Her house was an open door and no one was ever turned away. She had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humour. Everyone who knew her felt her big heart and giving nature. She was a private person who didn’t often share her burdens with others. Cheryl was strong and independent, yet sensitive and kind. Life threw her many challenges, and she handled them all with dignity and grace.


Cheryl is survived by her partner, Barry (Bear) Steele, her sister Linda (Roy) West, her sister Donna King, her brother Gary King (Gina), sons Matthew King (Jaime), Keenan King and William King as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother and father, June and William King, sisters Terry King and Bonnie Martyniuk, and her beloved son, Jordan King.

Cheryl lived her life to the fullest but always put her family first. Her family was her world and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and were what made her happiest. Cheryl was extremely proud of each member of her family and cherished each beautiful memory.

Cheryl’s departure has caused a deep wound in our hearts, and is gravely felt by all who loved her. The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. While our hearts mourn the loss of our beloved mom, aunt, sister and grandmother, we take comfort that she is at peace. We will take solace in the memories that we hold near.
