It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anna Fonyo, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Kelowna, B.C. at the age of 89.
She was predeceased by her father, Farkas Gyula, mother, Ilona Kluka, husband, Steve Fonyo Sr. and her son, Stephen Fonyo, who recently passed away on February 18, 2022.
She will lovingly and forever be missed and remembered by her daughter, Suzanne Main, son-in-law, Robert Main and granddaughter, Melody Kruppa.
Anna was born in Hungary on April 3, 1933 and immigrated to Montreal, Quebec, with her husband and daughter in 1959.
She had a career as a professional hairdresser which began at the age of 13.
In the early 80’s, the family bought and operated “The Perogy House” in Vernon, B.C. until the passing of her late husband.
Anna had many skills and talents. She was an excellent cook and baker. She also loved to dance, especially ballroom dancing in her earlier years. You could regularly see her on the dance floor of the Vernon Legion. She loved to knit, crochet and needlepoint. She also loved to garden and grew fabulous roses.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thank you to the staff at Mission Creek Landing for their excellent care of Anna.
