A Life Well Lived
It is with great sadness that the family of Drew Hilts announce his passing on August 2, 2022. Born in St. Paul’s Hospital, Drew grew up in Vancouver and Coquitlam. He attended UBC and then completed his Veterinary degree at the University of Saskatchewan. He is survived by his wife Patricia Hunter, children Jackson (Valerie) and Rachel (Shea Lenehan), his first wife Linda (Gung) and sons Josh and Jeremy; his stepdaughter Jennifer McEachern (Mike), his sister Leslie and brother Ross, his two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Mike and parents, Elizabeth and Ira.
Drew passed after a battle with cancer on a date of his choosing surrounded by his family and with his dogs by his side. Drew will be remembered for his love of animals, many of which he provided a home for over the years, especially several standard poodles. He always had a dog by his side, whether on his lap or beside him at the dinner table waiting for a morsel to be slipped to them.
Drew had a quirky sense of humor and was known for being contrary and was always up for a good conversation. Friends and family knew Drew as a loyal friend, enjoyed his delicious meals and especially his pre-dinner stiff gin and tonics. Throughout his life he enjoyed multiple trips abroad and had many adventures with his family which included adventurous sailing trips.
