Alexander Klein passed away January 10, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born on June 5, 1929, to Johann Klein and Elisabeth (Stings) in Troisdorf, West Germany.
Alexander was a long-time resident of Vernon B.C. and actively participated in Nordic skiing, golf, and bowling in retirement. In his younger years he played semi-professional soccer in Germany and became an avid tennis player and alpine skier upon emigrating to Canada. He loved the outdoors and hiked, camped, and fished when time off work permitted. Alexander was a talented craftsman being both a master bricklayer and masonry tradesman as well as a master shoemaker. Alexander was hardworking and tough but kind and generous throughout his life. His pleasant manner earned him the nickname “the German Gentleman”.
Although Alexander is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
Alexander is predeceased by his first wife Joan Beaufrey (Gentry) and second wife Wilma Ethel (Ivany). Alexander is survived by his only son Alexander Daniel and his wife Elaine Schmidt and their two children Brayden Klein and Maddison Klein. He is also survived by his stepchildren Ken, Gwynneth, Lorna, Randy, Steven, and Arlene and their spouses and children, and predeceased by his stepson Lloyd.
A private memorial will be held for Alexander on January 24, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, a place where Alexander was treated with expert care on many occasions.
