ADOLF HOLLAND
June 8, 1931 ― March 2, 2022
The public is invited to a viewing at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 4303 Pleasant Valley Road, on Sunday, March 6, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Masks are mandatory.
With great sadness and faith in the promise of everlasting life, we bid farewell to Adolf Holland – beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. We were privileged to care for and minister to his needs until he passed away at home on March 2, 2022, surrounded by love and in peace at the age of 90. Adolf was not taken from us but rather was sent before us. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in a private ceremony.
To mourn his passing are his wife Herta, daughters Irma (Ervin), Rose (Rudy), and sons Harold and Art. As the best Opa, he adored his three grandchildren – Mark (Sarah), Krista (Steve), and Lorelei (Craig), as well as six beautiful great grandchildren – Mackenzie, baby Payton, Jacob, Ivan, Charles, and baby Judah.
Adolf was born in Dolganetz, Poland, on June 8, 1931, to Heinrich and Melitta Holland. His parents and siblings faced many hardships leading up to and during World War II. Together, they emigrated from Germany to Vernon in 1950. Adolf worked as a logger mostly in the Monashee Mountains, where he earned a reputation as a diligent and trusted employee.
In 1954 he married Herta Golke, and together they shared 67 years supporting each other through blessings and challenges.
Adolf leaves a legacy of faith in God, devotion to family, kindness, generosity and honesty.
Adolf was predeceased by parents Heinrich and Melitta, sisters Ida and Ruth, and brother Daniel. He is survived by sisters Olga and Irma, and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends deepest appreciation to Dr. Pritchett for his attentive care over the years, and to Interior Health Authority’s palliative team 4 who guided us through Adolf’s final days.

Adolf’s heart surgery in 2009 blessed his family and friends with an additional 12 years to enjoy his company. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to may consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
